Avila Arte Holdin’ it Down with “HomeGirls”

by Mi Vida Boutique |

We’re still basking in the glow of another killer ArtWalk! This month we were blessed to showcase a young pair of talented siblings Benjie and Adriana Avila aka Avila Arte. Los dos son bien chingones and we’re so grateful to be able to link up with such passionate and young artistas.

Adriana and Benjie

Saturday night was a first of many’s for us, it was our first time showcasing a brother and sister duo as well as Avila Arte’s first real gallery showing. HomeGirls, a collection that pays homage to barrio life and the women that hold it down. Chingonas in every sense of the word, stylish, sexy and firme!  As described by Benjie, “HomeGirls is a tribute dedicated to the classic old school homegirl style and history in the neighborhood of Wilmington where [we grew up].” We are absolutely in love with their collection and we are honored to have HomeGirls hanging on our walls for the next few weeks to come! We’ll be sad when the month is over.

One of our favorite things about Highland Park’s monthly ArtWalk is that we are given the opportunity to work with, create and build budding relationships with such talented raza! We expect and wish for nothing but success for Avila Arte and we’re so pleased to be able to help them gain exposure. Adriana and Benjie are the epitome of warmhearted and visionary artists, and we’re enraptured to welcome them to the Mi Vida familia. These are the types of relationships that continue to motivate us to keep the ball rolling with our involvement in our community and we hope that those who attended left feeling just as enthralled as we did.

Not only did we get to showcase the debut of HomeGirls, we also held a raffle to raise funds for our new kids art workshop, a project we have been working on for quite some time now. Our good friend Benjie Escobar was kind enough to donate this badass custom bike to Mi Vida. Thank you Benjie! The raffle was a catalyst for us to facilitate Mi Vida into a new direction, for our close-knit family and for our community as well. We have mentioned before that it is our main objective is to give back to our community and with our upcoming art workshops, we hope to accomplish this goal. So thank you to everyone who came and supported us this past weekend!
