What better way to kick off Herstory month than with a night dedicated to the empowering mujeres in our own community? We kicked off March a little early this past weekend con las locas de Locatora Radio.
Mala Muñoz , a local rape crisis counselor advocate, writer and activist along with her carnala in crime, Diosa Femme , a queer femme Southeast L.A. community organizer hosted our Artistas Mujeristas Showcase. They rounded up their favorite artistas and musicians for a night of fierce unity and hermanahood. The girls spoke on behalf of the recent political upheaval, the importance of self-care and why they started their new Brown Girl Hour podcast. If ya’ll haven’t had the chance to listen to any of their episodes yet, you better get on to listening, por qué these girls represent so many of our unheard stories. Locatora Radio reclaims radio space from a Brown Girls’ perspective that focuses on us, stories that are created from femme centered every day influences. And the best thing about this Brown Girl Hour? They record it right here at Mi Vida! Take a listen to their chismes and let them and us know what you think!
